Buying a Christmas tree can be a serious business. But, we try to make it as fun and memorable as possible.

Here are a few tips to picking out the perfect Christmas tree for your home.

At Mistletoe Tree Farm you can browse to your heart's content, or chat with one of our experts to help you in your selection. Jess or her brother are always there, and are happy to proudly walk you through the trees.

- Pick a space in your home for the tree – and measure it. How high is ceiling? How wide can the tree be? That will help put things in perspective as you peruse the trees on the lot.

- Bring your stand to the lot – or measure its diameter. You don’t want to trim the bark and trunk, because it affects how your tree will absorb water to keep it fresh.

- Don’t be afraid to touch! If you touch a branch and come away with a handful of dry needles, move on!  

Bounce it a few times to be sure the needles don’t fall out in droves, though you should expect a few to fall.

- Check the branches – are they sturdy enough to display your ornaments? (Douglas Firs are known for being sturdy enough to support heavier ornaments.)

- Have fun! You’re not just buying a tree, you’re making a memory.
